Everyday inspiration:
As careful observers of the world we see details and have insights into a rich and sometimes surreal world. As visual thinkers we use our imagination to describe the invisible and emotional. Artists have the ability to put as much energy and excitement into drawing a complex figure as they do a paper cup.
For this project we will take our inspiration cues from the exhibition Real Reel.Step One: Pull out the objects from your pockets and/or bag
I.e. Gum wrapper, cough drop, pencil, coins, lighter, dental floss
Step Two: Choose 4-5 objects
Step Three: Using air dry clay sculpt these objects.Pay close attention to how you render these objects.
Remember just like in observational drawing you must begin with the general and move to the specific. Work the whole object and bring it into focus.
This should be done as a 1:1 scaleStep Four: Allow your finished objects to air dry
Step Five: Use paint to complete the details
Step Six: Bring original objects and render objects to class next Wednesday
